Video games have been changing drastically over the past few decades, moving from a single color to high-definition and some don’t even require a controller now. Of course, with all the recent developments in video games, many wonder what is next for video games. There is so much that can happen, as new video game systems begin to come out and are released. However, to have a better understanding of where video games are going, you need to have a grasp of where they currently are at.

For starter, current video games are not completely driving the console hardware to the limit. You don’t always see this until right before the release of the next video gaming system. However, you can see a large improvement in the graphics and quality of the games, from the debut of the system to where we are currently. The games are deeper, richer, with the graphics more real and many of the games containing additional designs that were not possible before hand. With every video game release, most video game designers improve their hardware, in over to improve on the quality of the games.

3D video gaming is possible right now, but only on the PS3. The PS3 came with a built in emulator, allowing individuals to play some games in 3D. There are not that many titles currently available, but it does slightly add to the gaming effect.

On top of this, Xbox has games where you don’t need any controllers at all. Of course, there are always going to be the need for controllers, at least in some shape or form, but more and more games are going to come out where it is motion control based, and you can use your body and hand gestures to control how your character plays.

Currently, the resolution of video games is not going to improve overly much. Televisions are only able to produced high-definition picture up to 1080 horizontal lines. Until televisions are able to produce a higher resolution that this (which will eventually happen), video games are going to stay put, but the amount of action that takes place in a single frame is going to improve. You have probably played games where the gameplay slowed down due to multiple individuals playing at the same time. This is going to be a thing of the past with new technology and updated equipment on the video game systems.
